My personal health journey to health has inspired me to help others find their own paths to wellness.
Hello! I’m Nicole, a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P) and Board-Certified Functional Health Practitioner based in Los Angeles, CA. I specialize in helping exhausted women reclaim their energy, improve digestion, reduce inflammation, balance hormones, and more. My approach focuses on bioindividual nourishment and lifestyle practices to restore overall health and bodily function. I bring curiosity, compassion, and a holistic perspective to every client I work with, aiming to identify and clear inflammatory triggers, calm the body, and facilitate healing.
My journey into nutritional healing began with the birth of my second child, my daughter Kate. As a baby, Kate was in constant pain and cried endlessly. Seeing her in pain was heartbreaking for me as her mother. Determined to find answers, I embarked on a relentless quest to understand what was wrong. I eventually discovered that Kate had silent reflux and an immature, dysfunctional digestive system aggravated by food intolerances. She rejected the standard formulas prescribed by GIs (thankfully), so I dove into learning about gut healing protocols and elimination diets. Through this process, I was able to heal her through my breast milk and, in turn, heal myself. As her symptoms improved, I noticed my own health improved too—my mood, sleep, and energy levels soared, and I shed the lingering pregnancy weight. This experience sparked a passion for natural healing that has only grown stronger.
About five years later, I found myself in a high-stress corporate marketing job, juggling work and two elementary-aged children. My commitment to clean eating slipped, and I turned to unhelpful coping mechanisms like comfort food and a nightly glass of wine. As a result, my health deteriorated rapidly. I gained weight, experienced digestive distress, and my sleep was poor. I suffered from painful gas and bloating, which turned out to be Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). What I thought was severe heartburn was actually gallbladder attacks and an inflamed pancreas. After an emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder—something I would handle differently today—and treatment for SIBO, I was left in shock from the physical trauma and whirlwind of events. I realized my lifestyle and diet choices had made me sick. I was so consumed with daily life and stress that I lost touch with my body and ignored its signals until it became an emergency. This wake-up call made me realize I needed a dramatic change. I overhauled my diet and lifestyle, and shifted my career focus to helping others (and myself) heal through nourishment and holistic practices.
This led me to study holistic health and functional nutrition, where I embraced the core principles that everything is connected, everyone is unique, and all things matter. Our bodies function like an interconnected web, much like the roots of a tree are connected to the leaves on its branches. We can't look at a symptom in isolation without considering the underlying dysfunction causing it. Secondly, everyone is bioindividual, meaning each person is unique. What works for one person may not work for another; one person’s nourishment may be another’s trigger. Each individual must be treated according to their unique needs. Lastly, all things matter—your symptoms, your lifestyle, your daily choices, your food, and most importantly, you. Even if your doctor says your labs are "normal," your symptoms are real (hello, medical gaslighting, which is all too common).
Another key principle we embrace is that stress is at the root of all dysfunction. How it manifests varies from person to person. Cortisol, the main stress hormone, is a survival hormone that suppresses non-essential functions and systems like digestion, reproductive hormones, and the immune system. While these systems might not be needed immediately in a life-or-death situation, they are essential for everyday life. Chronic stress, however, keeps these systems suppressed, leading to various dysfunctions. Stress isn't just mental or emotional; it can also be physical, structural, environmental, or biochemical. Hidden stressors—like injuries, toxins, food sensitivities, or parasites—drive the body's stress response. The real magic in healing happens when we reduce or eliminate these stressors, allowing the body to restore balance.
I am passionate about helping women find balance in their lives through whole-body stress reduction, whole-food nourishment, digestive healing, blood sugar and hormone balance, inflammation reduction, and more. It’s incredibly rewarding to guide someone in tuning into their body and building their personal health toolkit. I have a special affinity for supporting women, especially moms and caregivers, who often prioritize everyone else’s needs above their own. I hear it almost daily—women believing that others' needs are more important than their own. (Pro tip: they aren’t!) I firmly believe that when a mother finds her health, it creates a positive ripple effect that can enhance the health of her entire family.
My approach is rooted in functional nutrition, utilizing functional labs and assessments to uncover hidden stressors affecting your health. This allows us to identify and address the upstream causes of inflammation and dis-ease in your body. From there, we work to clear these stressors, calm your body, and nourish it with replenishing foods and lifestyle changes. Everything is personalized to honor your bioindividuality. My style is warm, nurturing, and supportive. I will meet you where you are and address your unique needs. While I believe in being straightforward, I always communicate with compassion and care. I will lovingly hold you accountable to your goals, and together, we’ll navigate the ups and downs of life in a safe, supportive way—because healing is not linear.
Health is a lifelong journey and, ultimately, the most important one. Without good health, we can't fully enjoy all the blessings life has to offer. I have found my purpose in this work, and it is an honor to help my clients transform their health and, in doing so, transform their lives.
